Mystery called: He wants his goggles back. |
Have dudes been bumming you out lately? Have they been making you feel excited about life? Have you gone on any great dates? Any terrible ones? Have you received any stupid text messages? What is UP?
Also, is there anything that you think we should write about that you've been noticing lately? Because if Shmitten Kitten is anything, it's for the people.
Tell us in the comments.

bummed out about a dude. sucky. hate when they are all hanging out with you and then disappear. hates.
no stupid texts as of yet. although aforementioned loser did send me a drunk text using lyrics to that NEED YOU NOW song.
What's up is you got that HORRIBLE fucking song in my head Anna! Goddamn it! I just asked a girl out on a date and got a "Sure!" in response and everything was grand until I got on here and saw that picture. Fuck My Life, Fuck it!
Oh how about this one...
Had a girl over at my apartment the other night after a kick ass dinner date and she's flipping through the records and the discussion goes to favorites of course. She stops at Descendents and I call that one out as one of my favs since probably 86...
her response: "I was born in 1986"
Fuck I'm getting old. Regardless, we've been hanging out here and there and the age difference apparently isn't an issue.
That reminds me, I should do a "Tip Our Hats" to guys that love the Descendents. I wanna marry a Descendents fan.
how about a Descendents fan with Descendents tattoo? do i need to move to Philly?
I'm psyched for summer, but not for bathing suits.
1) Hey Anna!
2) "COFFEE MUG CAN CLEAR AWAY THE HAZE"
3) Gave up on my search for the girl in the polka dot dress from the pageant, haha. Just too many people and I'm not that much of a stalker :)
4) I got some recording with the band and a handful of shows coming up. You should absolutely come out to the one at the Khyber in July because then you can watch me play with a full band not completely trashed haha!
Bonerkiller : He lives on the Main Line. My penchant for only finding guys that don't live in the city is astounding. Does anyone else have this problem?
bonerkiller- he is a picky/finicky eater.
OR, i inhale a meal as he is still pushing things on the plate around with his fork. i don't eat like a beast, but when dudes eat like teenage girls it makes me feel like kirby's dreamland or some shit.
Rachel, i've already written about picky eaters!
To Allison: I live four minutes west of the main line and as soon as I mention it I'm treated like some social pariah.
What's the big deal? Do girls enjoy going back to a guy's place with his seven smelly roommates? Is my sports car with air conditioning and awesome CD's an awful alternative to biking in the traffic and rain? Does my giant apartment make you feel agoraphobic? Does it really matter if the cab home after a night out is fifteen minutes instead of ten?
It's not that I care, I get ice cream sandwiches at Hope's Cookies, a short drive to wherever I like, and dibs to shows at Danger Danger Gallery, so I'm set, but seriously city folks, get over it.
Got dumped by someone I was casually dating because I cut my hair super short. Ok... It was kinda shaved and he had been warned since we started talking that cut was coming! I was more upset about wasting all the text messages than him rolling. THAT is never a good sign.
Other than that? I agree with Julia H., Totally psyched about beach weather! The beater tan lines I get every year... yeah, not so much.
P.S. I don't mean to sound narcissistic about my car or my apartment, or my cd collection, I'm just sick of apologizing for not living in the mall under Market St.
Hey Anonymous,
For those of us who have made urban dwelling a lifestyle choice, we probably don't have cars, so if we're ever going to go out to your place we have to take a train or a $20 cab. Or you have to drive us round trip. It's just hard to plan. And I have a dog who needs to be walked. The same way you chose to live in the suburbs, we chose to live in the city. We live here, you visit.
Oh yeah taking the train, making a round trip or planning in advance - so impossible! No wonder relationships only ever take place between identical people within four blocks of each other - o wait.
You aren't making "urban dwelling a lifestyle choice" you're just choosing to take the path of least resistance. If stubborn insistence on laziness is so important to you, I have one more reason to cherish not living in the stretch between Girard and Passyunk where you pick potential suitors.
I don't know about the other commenters, but I most certainly got aroused upon hearing about Anonymous's sports car.
Stupid text messages... it's a toss-up between:
a) the guy who keeps sending booty texts despite the fact he has never met me and only got my number from one of his friends, without my permission.
b) the guy who I went on 1 date with and who then proceeded to address me as 'babe' in every single subsequent text. He didn't even seem like a desperate stalker. Disappointing.
Well hello Anonymous Main Liner with your fancy sports car and cds. Don't get me wrong. I seem to fall for you guys. I am not sure if there are certain qualities that you all share but whatever they are rev my pheromones up and I get all involved.
But then I slowly start to sing Anonymous #2's song. Mr. ML will want me to come out on the r5 (because the traffic on 76 is nutty) and then I have to rely on him to pick me up and drop me off. Weekends are fine but on week nights... can't you just be a neighborhood away? Your ice cream place sounds great and all but I would much rather get a spontaneous text "Meet me at Capogiro in 10 mins."
I just got served up a serious Love N' Shove. I need better spidey sense.
Oh man, that sucks.
main liners VS city propers: the new sharks Vs jets?
also- anna, i thought you had written about picky eaters before, but alas i couldn't find it. Gracias!
"I would much rather get a spontaneous text "Meet me at Capogiro in 10 mins."
Gah... I live on the Main Line, not Maine. I can send that spontaneous text and be at Capogiro in less time than it takes to bike from Nolibs to the branch on 20th.
Screw traffic on the 76, If your boyfriend is unwilling to pick you up and drop you off he shouldn't be your boyfriend in the first place. And I'm sorry (all us Main Liners are) for not living one neighborhood away, but we work further West in Villanova or Conshohocken and driving to pick you up in the evening is MUCH easier than spending two hours in center city rush hour traffic six days a week.
But it doesn't really matter, if you think "living on the main-line" is a turn off, we think "hearing a girl complain about you living on the main line" is even worse.
Why are you coming to the city to find women anyway? I'm sure there are many places to go where you can find women that are impressed by your CD collection.
Philly isn't yours, you just visit here. Stop acting like dating should be equal opportunity. Location is important. It says a lot about your state of mind, the things you value and what you want out of life. Just the fact that your first post had lines about your awesome CDs and fancy car, show what little self-awareness you have.
You're obviously frustrated finding that you're out of your league with the women "between Passyunk and Girard" ... If you were really OK with it, you would find a place to mingle with those from the suburbs and quit crying about city chicks. I recommend Old City on Saturday night.
BTW... That's not Center City traffic, that's YOUR traffic. The girls you're interested in don't even know the place you live exists.
Lady you're just a crazy, xenophobic, close minded jerk, so this comment is not directed at you, because you're too far gone to save, but for anyone else reading this:
Where you live has NOTHING to do with your "state of mind", the "things you value" or what you "want from life". I've lived in four continents, from Riyadh to Rome, Manhattan to Madrid, and there are interesting, amazing people in the smallest nooks and crannies of planet Earth - people whose intelligence, values and ambition have nothing to do with the size of their town, city or country.
Don't be a snob, don't be a jerk and don't shy away from putting a tiny little bit of effort in to maintaining your relationship - Mr. Right does not mean Mr. Right Away.
And going back to Little Miss Helen Thomas above, I am disproportionately proud of my car and my CD collection, my art collection, my taste in movies, my books, my friends and my tiny little town, none of which you'll ever get to know because I don't know, or care, that you exist.
WHAT A CATCH, LADIES
He also wants you to know he voted for McCain too. Ladies of Phila, snatch up this treat. He'll be at Happy Hour at the City Ave Houlihans tonight.
Well, I just moved to Northern Jersey.. From Boston for a job. So, time to start a new life, making new friends and finding new things to do.
Also.. I have a good friend in Philly that I can now easily visit. What should I do for my first Philly experience?? (I'll be visiting within the next month!)
Hey Anna!
- Gave a guy a 2nd chance date last night and actually had a great time.
- Tentative plans with another dude later tonight, but haven't heard back from him. Annoying.
- My Bonerkiller is guys who talk about how much Philadelphia sucks. I'm not from here either pal, but if I were unhappy I'd effing move. I've grown to love soft pretzels, "wudder ice" and the Phils (even when they're sucking). I'm glad life was so great for you in NYC/Kansas City/Alcatraz. In fact, since you liked it so much take your whiny ass back there and don't let the SEPTA door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.
P.S. This suburbs vs Philly argument is ridiculous. I live in the city AND have a car, so maybe I'm biased. But if a great guy lives within a 45 minute drive of my place (no matter who does the driving), I'm in. Hell I went out with a dude from Allentown a couple of times because he was awesome. People live where they live for myriad reasons.
