Following the death of his wife in 1991, the difficulty of raising their two children on his own, and his increasing disenchantment with Hollywood, Moranis retired from acting in 1997. He had intended the retirement to be a sabbatical of a couple of years, but later realized that he didn't miss the pressure. He still does occasional voice work

Last I heard he quit acting to take care of his wife after she was diagnosed with cancer. And now I can hear the "Aww's" all the way in Iowa... :)
Oh, I love this! Poor Rick. It would be good to see where he's hiding. Anon, I'm totally awwing :/ Hope all is well in that area, now.
I saw him on Conan 5 or so years ago promoting his new country and western album.
